This is a guided tour of notable monuments and graves of famous people in West Norwood Cemetery.

West Norwood (formerly South Metropolitan) Cemetery is listed Grade II* on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, and contains 69 monuments and other buildings listed Grade II or Grade II* by Historic England. It is one of the “Magnificent Seven” large cemeteries surrounding London founded by commercial companies in the 1830s and 1840s, being opened in 1837.

Around 300 persons with entries in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography are buried here. Famous names include Mrs Beeton [cookery], Sir Henry Bessemer [steel], Sir Henry Doulton [pottery], William Marsden [hospitals], Sir Hiram Maxim [machine gun], Baron Paul de Reuter [news agency], Charles Spurgeon [Baptist college], Sir Henry Tate [sugar, art gallery].
