“Donʼt let them bump into the furniture”
Paul Clayton presents a masterclass workshop into how a theatre director works. He will be joined and assisted by professional actors Maanuv Thiara and Victoria Wicks.
Just what does a theatre director do in the rehearsal room? And how do they do it? Paul has a playful look at techniques directors use, and how they get the best performance out of their actors, assisted by professionals Maanuv Thiara and Victoria Wicks.
A fun-filled 90-minute session for anyone who’s ever thought about directing, or who just wants to understand the rehearsal process a little more.
As director Paul has worked at many regional theatres including Nottingham Playhouse, the Watermill Theatre Newbury and Greenwich Theatre where his productions have included Gaslight, Good Morning Bill, Toad of Toad Hall, On Approval, Dilemma for Murder, Sticky Wickets, The Comedy of Errors, Green Forms, Privates on Parade, and The Pocket Dream.
He directed The Ruffian On the Stair by Joe Orton with Lucy Benjamin at the Hope Theatre in January 2019 which received rave five-star reviews.
Maanuv Thiara is an award-winning actor most recently seen in series 5 of Line of Duty, and alongside Andrew Scott in Hamlet. Victoria Wicks is best known to TV audiences for six series of the award-winning Channel Four sitcom Drop The Dead Donkey in which she played the iconic Sally Smedley.
